Split

All of those verses that you love so much
I asked you for strength and you gave me a crutch
A wave of your hand and a false human touch
If only your words were as honest as such

Standing aloft on a canyon cliff side
I watched a witchdoctor take his sweet bride
My heart screamed with terror with no where to hide
And I was swept unwilling along for the ride

I watched his sickness demand of her will
No matter the heartache she would submit still
The rage that consumed me would give me my fill
And I felt an angry desire to kill

Within my own body was something unreal
A monstrous creature who's flesh could not feel
A hot deck of cards as a fool's hand would deal
Deep within my silence my own fate would seal

On so it goes with the power so great
As one that can fester in dungeons of hate
Split down the middle is something irate
When innocence falls for a witchdoctor's bait

Now is a creature of dark and of light
An angel by day and a devil by night
Shackled by chains that cut in far too tight
A wrongful approach turns her bark into bite

A challenge to reconcile two sides into one
A minx by the night and a jewel in the sun
A balancing act where the winner is none
A tempestuous past she will never outrun

Don't live with the pain is what I have been told
Yet walk in my shoes and you won't be so bold
The eyes of this tyrant grow ever so cold
Though wicked in mind her love sweet to behold
