Fear Of The Water

Would you have the courage
To dip your eyes below
Open to a world
Where life brims at full glow
Where the cool of the dark depths beckon
Where the warm shallows amaze and delight
Where beauty turns terror in the night

Would you be so bold
To let your breath go
And trust the rushing currents flow
Where mystery dwells with those unknown
Where not all life is flesh and bone
Where vast sands meet rock and stone

Would you take that step
Into eternal depth
Trusting the lady
Who brings the summer rains
Who washes mankind's stains
Who grinds away organic remains

Would you understand
With your delicate hand
She who your life commands
Who could make you disappear
Who could drown you with your own fear
Who makes history unclear

Forever upon this earth
Retakes of life and brings new birth
Is it worth the risk you take
For the trouble she could make
My own fear upon she feeds
As she changes up her leads
Though mankind would make her bleed
She can take back what she needs
Respect she will demand
So be gentile with your hand
Keep your feet on steady track
What she gives she can take back
