When you're so strong for the many who depend on you
Who marvel that you stand after what you've been through
And how you smile with open arms into which they fly
I wonder...do you cry?
When you shoulder the burden of those far too weak
When you open your voice for those who can not speak
When you alone are shelter for the scared who hide
I wonder...do you cry?
Do you cry inside when your focused face seems made of stone?
Do you cry when late night hours find you alone?
Is there ever a teardrop deep inside of you?
Will there be someone to dry them if you shed a few?
When you laugh to bring love to someone else's heart
When you pick up the pieces of one torn apart
When you bring hope to the hopeless under darkened skies
I wonder...do you cry?
When you finally grow weary from your servicing years
And duty has come to free you of your frailty fears
When life tells you that it's finally time to say goodbye
I wonder...will they cry?
