One little sparrow sings softly in a flock
The others scream screech and squawk
How she tries to make them hear
The flock's disinterest makes it very clear
Their noise their screaming
Far too loud
To have any real meaning...
One sparrow's song slowly dies today
Caught up in the wind and swept away
In a song alone atop her perch
Is a soul lost within it's search
No one hears the little notes play
Caught up in the wind and swept away
Steel cage doors keep her trapped inside
When the storm winds come there's no where to hide
The roaring of their negative words
Are all that come out of the other birds
Though she knows she could risk the escape
The price she pays might be too great
What would she stand to gain or lose
If flying away is what she'd choose
A big heart is so often a curse
Though in life there can be far worse
So little sparrow continues to sing
Hoping for herself a little peace to bring
If she could hear past the blackbird's screams
She'd hear the other sparrows sweetly sing...
