Would you seek to own the stars
Do they not shine for all to see
Shrouded in wisdom's mystery
Would you seek to own a heart
Who would give anything to make smile
Any who would accept it for a while
Do we not cherish the stars for what they are
The little of them that we know
Tiny lights on which our dreams grow
The inspiration of a thousand ideas
Many the object of the arts
Forever imprinted upon our hearts
Neither good nor bad the stars are
Just as enigmatic as our troubled minds
Our faces scarred with painful lines
Too many streets I've wandered
Offering a star to every stranger I meet
As time's blazing sun burns my feet
Here all I can offer to you my friend
Through the darkness of my night
Is a fading dim of starlight
